perception は真ん中の「sep」にアクセントを置きます。「セ」を強くはっきりと発音してください。最初の「per」は唇を軽く閉じてから息を破裂させ、母音は力を抜いた曖昧な「ァ」にします。語尾の「tion」は「ション」と伸ばさず、「シュン」と短く息を抜くように発音すると自然に聞こえます。

語源
perception は、接頭辞 per-（完全に）とラテン語の capere（つかむ・取る）から成り立っています。物事の全体像を頭の中で「完全につかみ取る」という成り立ちから、知覚や認識という意味に発展しました。同じ capere（つかむ）の語根を持つ関連語には、concept（概念）や accept（受け入れる）があります。
